Mission Report, enero 20, 2020

Okay here is the rundown. Everything here in chile has been super cool. I got assigned to a city called Arica. It's basically spitting distance from peru. So I traveled from mexico by plane to Antofagasta witch took about 11ish hours and then I stayed at the mission home for a night, had a meeting, met my papito elder salazar and then took a 12 hour bus ride to Arica. So I was a bit tired. Im super close to the beach so I can always smell the ocean. Everything here is super humbling. I have actually acclimated and gotten used to almost everything. We have dominos and a Lider (Walmart with a different name but owned by the same company) so I am all good. It's not super hot here, but the sun is very strong. I was outside for about an hour without sunscreen and I turned bright red. Other than that it's super nice here. As for the language It's coming along. I'm learning more and more everyday. Although the more I learn the language the more I realize how bad the Chilean accent really is. The people here are really interesting. I now know that gypsies are real and very crazy. So that was an interesting discovery. Chileans are very friendly people for the most part. They talk to us even if they strongly disagree with us. I have only had a couple doors shut on us, but that might just be because they are curious why this super tall blonde gringo is at their door in a white shirt and tie all sweaty and red living conditions are... interesting. We have a not so small problem with cockroaches. They are everywhere. Its kinda unsettling. But I love it here anyway. We have a special way to take care of them though. It may or may not be a little bit of fire. So things are going well and I am really starting to feel the love that heavenly father has for all of these people and I'm so happy to be sharing this love with them. This is exactly where im supposed to be.
